Royal Chiang Mai is an exciting and challenging course for the amateur and professional golfer alike, whilst still keeping in harmony with the natural scenery and rolling countryside. The course has a good reputation due in part to the well maintained conditions and professional operations.
Set within a valley surrounded by a magnificent mountain range, Royal Chiang Mai Golf Resort is a course of outstanding natural beauty incorporating waterfalls, streams, and an abundance of lush green trees and foliage. The Chiangmai golf course was constructed on the site of a former fruit orchard and also provides breathtaking panoramic views of mountains in the distance. The high altitude provides a cooler, less humid climate, clear air, and gentle breezes. There is an abundance of wildlife including many species of local birds and thousands of flowering trees with different fragrances and colors throughout the year.
The 7000 yard course at Royal Chiang Mai was designed under supervision of five-time British open Champion, Peter Thomson and uses many of the elements from a British links style course; including bumpy gently rolling fairways, numerous pot bunkers and closely mowed areas around the greens. A shorter course requiring more accuracy of placing the ball rather than long shots ensures a challenging game for both beginner and pro.
There are strategic positioning of fairway and greenside bunkers. Moreover, on some holes, the distances to the greens are deceptive and there is a tendency to under club. Lakes, streams and waterfalls come into play on most holes. All 18 holes on the entire course blend well together to offer a unique challenge.
After the round there is a beautiful view from the clubhouse which features a full range of facilities including a golfers terrace and golf resort.
